One of my favorite images from last year at BGO IV... I am the official photographer for the Bar Game Olympics. This year BGO V is being held on February 25th & 26th. Even I, as an admitted snow lover, am ready for the warmer weather to begin making an appearance. This was taken last summer from the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ. Hopefully it cheers a few you who are really needing the sun and fun...
A Goose and it's mate stand on the edge of the frozen portion of the pond; debating on whether or not to enter the water... All of the rust colored areas are the reflections of the far bank as it is lit by the rising Sun.
Everything was moving in the image; and I mean everything... Clouds, trees, geese, photographer; all where being moved by the wind. Other than that, I just like the way the Sun sort of spotlighted the pair in flight against the dramatic sky...
Six of the thousands of birds at the wildlife area... I think these are Snow Geese. I liked the way the rising Sun lit their bodies in a warm glow against the cooler blue of the morning sky.
With dawn breaking at my back; I caught the Moon trying to duck out past the treeline to the west. The water in the foreground in part of the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. The pond was actually about 60% frozen over; even with the warmer temps of the past few days. It was not warm Saturday morning; with a steady 25 - 30 MPH wind out of the Northwest and guests above 50MPH, it could be downright chilly at times.
Its a golf hat that I have had for many years, the look of it just seemed to fit with a cigar type of theme. Well, enjoy the slightly warmer weather this weekend. If you are feeling really bold, get out and grill something, push the season a little...
Had an idea for a possible portrait project... luckily for me I was around to play model as I worked out of some of the particulars. At the very least; it was a nice way to spend a little time, enjoy a good cigar, and capture some images... In case you were wondering; the cigar is a Casa Magna with a Colorado wrapper.
I was shooting actual film this past weekend... And while I will share some of those results when I finally get them processed and loaded; I am a little impatient (shocking! I know...) I am a big fan of the NIK filter products and on this image I applied one that simulates the look of film (Fuji Superia 400 in this case). I like the way it turned out and it only makes me more excited to see the results of my film work. I did remember what was so nice about switching to digital about 8 years ago, instant results... no waiting.
Just in case we don't see the Sun at all today, there is a rumor that it is kinda' like this color...
