Above the Corn...

A little while after I thought the outing was over for the morning; I encountered the balloon again...

I pulled over, frantically looking for a spot and trying to avoid a fence (no worries, I did). I hopped out and moved around to get the light and composition I was after.

Sometime the unexpected happens with good results.

Balloon and Barn

Here is another image from my Sunday morning outing...

After chasing this balloon for about 45 minutes; we finally found a scene that was free of power lines, had nice a composition, and featured the great warm light of sunrise. Thanks again to Nick for his local knowledge...

Old School Lancaster County...

Wagon Tracks

I wanted to share another image from my Sunday morning outing to Amish Country...

After studying the original image for a while; the subject matter just had me feeling a slightly sepia toned image would better communicate the feeling from this solitary lane and the multiple wagon tracks that can be seen winding along it...

Dawn Comes To Lancaster...

After missing Saturday's sunrise due to ZZZZZ's; I managed to get up and ended up meeting a fellow shooter, Nick Dibernardo. We were hoping to catch some of the mist that formed from the cool night air over the fields.

This is one from the outing that I captured just as the sun was starting over the horizon, I decided to turn around and take advantage of the nice warm light.

Lily and Shadow...

Here is one of images I captured at the water lily garden in Longwood.

The shooting conditions may not have been ideal for some; but for me they were just what I was looking for... The heavy overcast sky provides great diffused light, no harsh shadows. The colors seem richer and deeper, not washed out by the direct sunlight.

I even enjoyed shooting the rain... In fact, in my favorite image of the outing, rain plays a major factor in the final vision.

I will be sharing more soon...

Water Lilies...

While sunrise was a bust this morning; I decided to take advantage of the overcast skies and headed down to Longwood to get some floral images, particularly of the water lilies.

One nice thing about Longwood; it's a "rain or shine" kind of place, so today's rainy conditions kept many away. It has been a few months since I have been there, and the nice soft overcast light made for pretty good shooting today.

The Green Mile...

Another image from my visit on Friday night to Longwood...

Although you cannot see them; there are benches along the left side of this long hall. It was on one of these that my wife sat when I knelt and asked her to marry me.

This has always been a special place to us...

Burning Love...

Another image from my visit to Longwood Gardens Friday night.

This is the same couple from the Passion at The Fountains image.

The fountain and light shows at the gardens are really fantastic and should be seen in person to be truly appreciated.

Lilly Pads At Night...

Here is a long exposure from last night...

This was a little over 4 minutes. I used a Neutral Density filter to help slow my shutter down so I could capture as much light as I needed while having a deep enough DOF to get the detail in the structure.

The streak of light is a scooter that moved across the scene. One of the hazards of longer exposures.

Passion At The Fountains...

After a few days of what seemed like eternal conference calls; I managed to get down to Longwood Gardens last night.

It has been a while since I have done any night shooting; and I was happy to have the opportunity to capture this couple at a great place and time...

Little Big Girl...

Starting 1st grade today... Captured a few last evening to avoid the chaos of the morning. I never ask her to smile; only to look at the camera. I think I wind up capturing a "truer" image that way...

Flannel & Fog

Another image from Marsh Creek; the mist and mood seemed just right for a Black & White image...
