Foggy Sunrise

Met up this morning at Marsh Creek with some photobuds from the local area. The toughest part of the morning was probably the trip to the lake. There were thick patches of predawn fog that made some of the roads almost unrecognizable. Glad that everyone made it safely...

This image captures some of the fleeting color that was visible this morning. I have a few more that I will be posting later as time allows.

It was great meeting new shooters as well as seeing the familiar faces.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend! - Ed

A Sunset...

After my early morning quest for clouds & color was unsuccessful; I decided to try sunset this time. As the afternoon wore on; I noticed the sky was beginning to show some real potential...

Well; I got the clouds, the color I was looking for was still lacking. Beautiful just the same; I will probably try again tomorrow morning...

Not Exactly Sunrise...

Here is an image that I took in my favorite little studio; my kitchen, specifically the counter with the large northern exposure windows...

While the sunrise shooting at Marsh Creek was a bit of a dud; the soft overcast light makes for some pretty decent still life & floral portraits. Northern exposure windows seem to give the most flattering light for all sorts of subjects; especially portraits. I got the background black by using a recently acquired 22" collapsible reflector. It's a great compact tool to have in your kit for a quick fix to a busy background or when you need a little fill light...

Fading Into A Gray Day...

Another image from my Sunday sunrise shoot...

Not much sunrise here compared to the other images from this shoot. This was the sky and light only 10 minutes after the brilliant colors that I had the good fortune to witness and capture...

Still beautiful in it's own muted way...

More Than a Few Drops...

"Fleeting Color"...

I wanted to share this image of Marsh Creek at sunrise this morning. Its just a little bit more water than I have been posting recently...

When I left the house; the cloud cover looked like it may be too thick for any decent images. However; like a fellow Marsh Creek shooter pointed out to me again this morning, "ya' never know until you get here..." How true.

The color and clouds only lasted about 10 minutes before the sky went over to a leaden gray color. But at least for that short time; my abbreviated sleep was worth it as I managed to get some nice images...

Outsider...

"Outsider"

I have been pleasantly surprised by the very positive reaction to my series of abstract water drop shots. I have a few more of this series to share before I change things up and try a different approach.

Have a great weekend everyone! - Ed

Multiples...

Here is another from my series of water drop images...

"Multiples"

I captured these after I had adjusted my drop height. The change in height had some really interesting effects to the image.

More Experiments From the Lab...

Another from my time spent playing with water in my garage studio...

The Crater

I am looking forward to doing a lot more with these type of images. Different heights, liquid types, lighting setups... many things can be changed only slightly to have a dramatic effect on the resulting images.

I appreciate everyone's continued support!

Have a great day! - Ed

Fresh From The Lab...

Here is one of the images that I managed to capture tonight...

This exercise was a challenge and more importantly; it was fun..

Manual focus and exposure; some creative backgrounds, a single flash, water, and a little luck with the timing...

More to come...

Have a great day! - Ed

Mothers Day Tulip...

A special Mothers Day late PM post edition...

Here is another image from this morning in the lab (garage studio).

Hope everyone enjoyed a great day doing whatever made you the happiest...

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day!

To all of the Mothers out there... wherever you are; here are a few blooms to help mark the day. May you have a great day no matter what you choose to do (or not do, LOL)

Overslept; missed sunrise by a few minutes, and was woken up suddenly by a charlie-horse... But at least it gave me the chance to limp down to the garage and do a little shooting. I shot these Tulips in my garage studio. An open garage door is a great source of nice, even, diffuse light...

Rest Stop...

This image was created in the Azalea Garden at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The garden is located on the Western side of the museum; right next to the parking lot for the Waterworks.

"Garden Bench"...
I wanted to share the image of this spot; it just struck me as a wonderful spot to sit a spell and relax for a moment or two.

I played with the image a little in post to help bring out the more "magical" qualities of this spot...

Have a great week everybody! - Ed
